Two of my boys were at the computers during their Word Work Daily 5 time today. They happened upon the Google website. Here is the conversation between the two.
"Topeka??"
"Hey, it says Topeka!"
"Where's the Google?"
"What's a Topeka?"
"Teacher, why does it say Topeka?"
Me - "Well, it's supposed to be an April Fools joke from Google."
"I don't get it."
Me -"Topeka is a city in Kansas."
"That's not funny."
"It's just a joke boys."
I wasn't about to go into the whole background of the joke but man did it really stump them. They stared at the Topeka logo for a few minutes trying to figure it out.
Very luckily that was the height of my April Fool's jokes today. I survived another April Fool's!
